German Prosecutor Rejects Lawsuit Against Der Spiegel by Chinese Students
Voice of Germany
Summary: The Hamburg public prosecutor's office concluded its investigation into allegations by Chinese students in Germany that Der Spiegel's August 27, 2007, cover story incited racism and was insulting to the religious beliefs or world views of Chinese people, as well as to China's flag and other national symbols. The prosecutor's office informed the plaintiffs that its inquiries showed no such offenses in the Der Spiegel cover entitled "The Yellow Spies: How China Steals German Technology," or in the story it accompanied. Protest has been building among Chinese in Germany and elsewhere since the story was published.
